Summit chalets offers you the flexibility of making your own travel arrangements, whether it be flying from your local airport to one of the four local airports that serve the Three Valleys or self driving. Our holidays have either Saturday or Sunday starts depending upon the chalet chosen.
There are a number of local transfer companies that we are happy to recommend to get you from the airport to resort and back again.
Will get you to the resort of your choice quickly and easily at competitive rates, so you can make the most of your time in the mountains with more time to Snowboard or Ski.
For transfers to and from Geneva Airport.
Meribel is approximately an 9 hour drive from Calais, almost all on motorway. Below is a list of ferry companies and the tunnel for making the journey across the channel.
When self driving to the mountains there are a couple of things you should consider. We might get snow! In fact everyone wants it to snow but it can be less fun when it dumps down on a busy arrival or departure day so it is best to be prepared. Always bring chains for your car! If your car does not have snow tyres, it is a legal requirement in France to have chains with you. If your car is 4×4 and has snow tyres, you may not need to bring chains but in every other case, we strongly recommend it, even if your car is fitted with snow tyres. It is so much better to have the chains than to get stuck!!
This has proved to be a favourite option and very cost effective for smaller groups. Car Hire is usually cheaper in France than Switzerland but please note that French hire cars are NOT fitted with winter tyres as standard whereas Swiss hire cars are (i.e. from the Swiss side of Geneva Airport). We therefore always recommend to hire from the Swiss side where possible.
The roads up to resort and in resort are cleared regularly and while snow chains are not always needed, it is a legal requirement in France to have them if your car does not have snow tyres on, so please always include them with your hire. You never know when we will get that big dump of snow and you wouldn’t want to be without the chains if you need them.
Please see a list of car hire companies below. This list is not exhaustive.

We couldn’t find anything at all to complain about, in fact quite the opposite, the compliments came thick and fast, great hosts, fab catering and a diligent cleaning crew were kept busy ensuring we had a stress free, full on ski week. The perfect ski chalet holiday.

Although we have skied every year for many years this was our first two week skiing holiday and we would happily have made it 3 or 4. The flexibility and friendliness of the service provided by Bettina and her team means that all your needs are well catered. We keep saying we should try another resort, but with chalets like Sardonnere offering such good value, we can’t bring ourselves to abandon Meribel.

We first met Jerry and Betina 14 years ago on a memorable ski trip with our family, and were thrilled to reconnect with them this year at Chalet Tarine with our grown-up children and their partners. Jerry, an incredible chef and host, made the experience unforgettable—from organizing ski passes and transfers to cooking phenomenal meals and driving us to the slopes daily. The chalet was beautiful, cozy, and spacious. Jerry and Betina took all the stress out of the holiday with their warm, attentive approach. We’re already planning next year’s trip with Summit Chalets!

I’d highly recommend summit chalets. Meribel is a fantastic place to ski with loads of variety, and snow cannons that mean even if the weather isn’t perfect, you still get good skiing. Jerry and Betina made organising the holiday really easy and everything ran smoothly thanks to them. Jerry’s cooking was delicious and we skiied home each afternoon thinking of the homemade cakes waiting for us. Thanks for a fantastic skiing holiday.

La Petite Cachée is a lovely chalet ideally located in Les Allues with very nice views. The gondola is 2mins away by car, we prefered to drive directly to Meribel Centre as it was only an additional 10mins drive. After a full day of skiing in the largest european ski domain, we very much enjoyed spending the rest of our time in the chalet as it was a very spacious, warm and comfortable place. Bettina is also very responsive and is very helpful in ensuring the organisation of the trip is as smooth as possible. Definitely recommend and will want to come again!
Côme Rimbert – March 2024
We had the most incredible stay with Summit Chalets, hosted by Bettina and Jerry, at Chalet Sardonnere in Méribel, and it truly exceeded every expectation. The chalet itself was beautifully decorated and thoughtfully laid out, making it perfectly suited for our family. We especially loved the open-concept living and dining space on the main floor. We opted for full catering with Jerry as our chef, and his meals were hands-down the highlight of the trip, every dish was outstanding. Bettina was equally exceptional. Her knowledge of the area and attention to detail ensured our week ran seamlessly. Both Bettina and Jerry are warm, attentive, and genuinely kind people. By the end of the week, they felt more like family than hosts.
